ArpLine (n. digital art-rock quintet based in Brooklyn, New York.
Members include Sam Tyndall (Vox/Guitar/MIDI), Nathan Lithgow (Bass),
Oliver Edsforth (Keys/Sax), Adam De Rosa (Guitar), Michael Chap
Resnick (Drums/Electronics))
With ArpLine (big A, big L), vocals are processed. Guitars are
digitized. Drums are looped and re-looped. Bass is bowed.
Everything is in jeopardy of being fed in to the three laptops they
bring on stage.
In the realm of songwriting, Tyndall's songs stand opposite to
songwriters who strive for personal or confessional lyrics paired with
stripped down or lo-fi instrumentation. ArpLine aims for abstraction
and otherness within pop structures.
In early 2009 ArpLine began work on their debut full length with
journeyman producer/engineer Chris Coady, veteran of sessions with TV
on the Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Telepath, Grizzly Bear, and Blonde
Redhead. In the studio Coady has acted as an enabler in their quest
for uniqueness.
Influences include Wire, Harmonia, Talking Heads, Battles, Robert
Fripp, Echo & The Bunnymen, and Bowie+Eno. Notable shows include
Bowery Ballroom, Blender Theater, Mercury Lounge, Music Hall of
Williamsburg, 92Y@TriBeca, South Street Seaport, & Le Poisson Rouge
