7/12/2010 -- Open Bar With Cloud Nothings on Fader
|
"Cloud Nothings recently stopped into Heathers Bar for some ice cold sodas and good clean fun. For such young dudes, they sure know how to sit down and pound out the kind of lo-fi riff that makes you wish you had a drink to cry into."

6/23/2010 -- Danger Village Summer Mixtape 2010
|
Here it is, the long anticipated Danger Village Summer Mixtape. Because today is the Summer Solstice and the official start to summer, we thought it appropriate to release this mix of beautiful sunshiney songs. This is a hodgepodge of favorite songs from our Danger Village bands as well as some songs we've been obsessed with lately. All of these are perfect for the lazy days that will fill our next three months. When we hear these tunes we think of lemonade, hammocks, breezes through tall grass, white sand on the beach, waves, nighttime swimming, kite flying, puffy clouds, Popsicles, and somersaults into cool pools. KIT, BFF, XOXO, Have a Great Summer! Luv, DV.

3/30/2010 -- YAWN on Pitchfork & I Am The Dot on New York Post
|
YAWN on Pitchfork!
"...clattering polyrhythms, sing-along harmonies, spare electronics, and some African guitar trills that place the band squarely along the latter-day AnCo/Yeasayer axis."
Check out the whole shebang over at Pitchfork.
I Am The Dot on the New York Post!
"...plays out like a foggier sounding Band of Horses track that slowly clears into an acoustic fairytale."
Check out the rest at the New York Post.

3/3/2010 -- Memoryhouse Remix "Hey Cool Kid" (Cloud Nothings) on Forkcast
|
"'Hey Cool Kid' from Cleveland's Cloud Nothings is a fuzzy guitar pop tune with a playful melody and biting, sarcastic lyrics ("Oh, you're such a cool kid"). In the hands of Canada's Memoryhouse, it takes a completely different tack, as they add a synth drone and obscure the vocals even further, imparting an appealing narcotic glow."

2/8/2010 -- Memoryhouse on Coke Machine Glow
|
"...the most relevant experience I've had with chillwave (in my life) is the debut EP by Memoryhouse, a Canadian joint bedroom project of a composer and photographer who operate on first name only. Seriously. The bumpy dreamscapes shot by Evan and Denise happen at the speed of developing fluid, and although some might argue you could achieve the same kind of aura by doing vocal exercises over an Orb LP, the sound on The Years is more organically synchronized, emitting the kind of sluggish beauty Type Records might sign if they fancied something more poppy..."

1/27/2010 -- Download Magic Man's Full Length "Real Life Color" for FREE!
|
Magic Man is a Boston-based duo that grew out of spare moments and idle hours during a summer spent volunteering on organic farms in the French countryside. Songs written and recorded in the land of wine and cheese were brought back home, where final adjustments, tweaks, and edits were made (due to an inconvenient geographic distance between the two band members, much of this work was done virtually, over the world wide web).
Now you can download their first full length here via Arcade Sound.

1/26/2010 -- Magic Man! and Danger Village on Audio Muffin
|
"Magic Man is in the same electro-pop vein as Postal Service, Animal Collective, Pretty Good Dance Moves, and Discovery. Their beats carry the songs with a quick demanding pace, synth pops and crackles. The bass lines are snappy and will have you bobbing your head at a consistently fast pace. And like some of my recent favorite bands like Fanfarlo, Local Natives, and Freelance Whales the lyrics are complicated, flowing, and catchy. The lyrics of Magic Man are strong and have that epic anthem sort of feel that make you sing along and feel like you are approaching some sort of awesome end. Great music to play in the car on your way to a weekend party..."

1/26/2010 -- MillionYoung on Pasta Primavera
|
Suggested listening straight from Pasta Primavera:
"Florida's MillionYoung aka Mike Diaz and his new tape/EP "Be So True" has softened my ears and jolted my senses. Drum machines topped with Diaz's soaked reverb heavy vocals are sewn together with new wave (or should I say New Order) synthesizers. This style seems to be popping up in many forms lately, but I dig it...so I dig MillionYoung. His "Be So True" EP is out now via Arcade Sound Ltd. and you can download his Sunndreamm EP for free here."

1/17/2010 -- Truman Peyote in Time Out Chicago
|
"An empty floor with a handful of attendees lining the perimeter of the Schubas greeted me during Only Children's DJ set. It was something out of a high school dance with better jams and more fog machines. Still, things didn't start heating up until relative unknown Truman Peyote took the stage. These Bostonites' brand of music was something like a Jackson Pollock: what appeared to be chaotic nonsense, upon closer inspection was perfectly intentional and well crafted. The standout of the evening, Truman Peyote is a band to watch this year."

1/14/2010 -- Memoryhouse on Pitchfork with Millionyoung Remix
|
"We've heard from Memoryhouse twice now in as many days, so how's about a Millionyoung remix to top things off? As with the Floridian's own compositions, there's a synthy sheen of chillwave spread over this mix, transforming the blippy electropop of the original (from The Years EP, which is available for free at http://www.arcadesoundltd.com/) into something a little more beachworthy."
